Beyond Pass/Fail

A pass/fail rate tells you what happened. It doesn't tell you why, or what to do next. Learner-centric assessment reports combine outcome data with the behavioural signals that led to it, giving instructional teams something they can actually act on.

Signals That Predict Learner Success

• Time-on-task relative to peers, parsed from result.duration
• Retry frequency before a passing attempt, grouped by context.registration
• Question-level accuracy on CMI interactions
• Engagement trend across modules leading up to the assessment

Designing for Different Audiences

An instructor needs question-level detail to improve content. A program manager needs cohort trends to justify budget. Build one underlying dataset, then design a focused view for each audience rather than one report trying to serve everyone.

Putting It Into Practice

Start with a single at-risk cohort, build a report that surfaces early warning signals, and validate it against what instructors already know anecdotally. Once it holds up, scale the same template across your other programs.
